Digital textbooks are not only cheaper than traditional textbooks; they also enable easy customization of learning experiences.
FREMONT CA: Teachers are accustomed to seeing hundreds, if not thousands, of volumes in their textbook room. These stacks contain out-of-date editions printed before the adoption of new state standards. Some books have pages that have been torn or are missing entirely. Additionally, books have vanished over the years. While K-12 schools have historically relied on printed textbooks, they are increasingly embracing the advantages of digital textbooks.
Are digital textbooks superior to print textbooks? The following are why digital textbooks are an excellent option for K-12 schools.
Cost-effective: There is a pricing aspect to consider when comparing traditional textbooks to digital textbooks. E-textbooks are more cost-effective for schools, particularly as new versions become available. When a conventional textbook publisher releases a new edition, the school or district must acquire it. On the other hand, updated online textbooks do not have a hefty price tag or shipping charges.
Immediate delivery: Schools no longer need to order textbooks and wait for them to be delivered to the school with digital possibilities. Online books are instantly accessible. Rather than students and families queuing to pick up their books, the content can be downloaded directly to a device. This is also an excellent option if a school decides to add a supplemental textbook or acquire books for individual learners in the middle of the year.
No storage space: Consider a world in which classrooms are not required to make space for piles of standard textbooks. With digital textbooks, classroom space is freed up for learning centers or increased student movement. Additionally, schools are relieved of the responsibility of storing new textbooks in a textbook room and spending time keeping track of each book.
Automatic updates: Publishers have historically updated K-12 textbooks every few years. Once new editions are completed, schools must purchase them, await shipment, and keep them. With digital textbooks, updates can be performed immediately and without interruption. This ensures that a school district's curriculum remains current and relevant in recent events and requirements.
